BALLSTON SPA YOUTH LACROSSE - 2012 SPRING SEASON
Information:
The Ballston Spa Youth lacrosse league provides boys of all skill levels from grades K - 8 the opportunity to learn to play the game of lacrosse in an instructional setting. Safety, sportsmanship, and participation will be stressed at all times.
- We are a participant of the Capital District Youth Lacrosse League and will play competitive games vs. other schools in the capital region.
- All Ballston Spa Youth Lacrosse League participants are required to join US Lacrosse. US Lacrosse provides insurance for Ballston Spa Youth Lacrosse.
- No Player will be allowed to participate/register without a valid US Lacrosse Membership Number.
- There is a $25 fee to join US Lacrosse. The website to register is www.uslacrosse.org .
Programs offered:
K-6 Learn to Play program: This program will be offered to kids in grades K-6. The program will meet twice a week starting in early April, and last through early June. The program will emphasize stick skills and provide instruction to the game of lacrosse. There will be no contact or checking allowed. The only equipment that will be needed will be a stick and a mouth guard.
- Registration for Learn to Play will be $60.
- Practice Times for K-2 will be once to twice a week 6:00 - 7:00 starting April 16th at Ballston Spa High School
Grades 5-8 Competitive Travel Program: This program will provide a mix of instructional and game experience. Practices for this program will begin in early April and run until mid June. The teams will be organized into:3rd/4th graders, 5th/6th graders and 7th/8th graders. Teams will play anywhere from 10-14 games, against similar age groups in this area. There will also be a few tournaments that we will be participating in as well. Games will be held at both Ballston Spa ( back fields), Wood Rd. and some away sites. Games will be played during the week and on weekends. Game schedules will be available as soon as they are finalized. Full equipment is required to participate in this program. Players are encouraged to obtain and use their own equipment, but it is not necessary. However, at a minimum, PLAYERS MUST PROVIDE A STICK AND MOUTHGUARD. All other equipment is available with a $100 deposit, which will be returned to you once the equipment is returned at the end of the season.
Registration for grades 3- 8 program will be $90 for those with equipment and $105 for those without equipment.
- Practice Times for the 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade team will be twice a week from 6:00 -7:30 starting April 2nd at Ballston Spa High School or Wood Road School. Practices will usually be on Monday and Wednesday nights.
- The 7th/8th will practice from 6:00 - 7:30 once to twice a week starting on April 2nd. The 7th/8th grade practice will usually be on Monday nights with some Wednesday night practices too. These will be held at Ballston Spa High School.
Coaching Staff: Joe Pollicino, Head Lacrosse Coach at the high school, is the director of the program. Coach Boldish, Coach Paone, Coach Gargiulo, Coach Martinez, Coach Yerou and Coach Rosetti will be our coaches as well. Any other parents who are interested in helping with the team responsibilities are welcome to attend. We are looking to have 2 - 3 teams at 3rd/4th grade level, 2 - 3 teams at 5th/6th grade level and 1 team at the 7th/8th grade level. We would like rosters to be around 25 players per team.

Registration Information: Participants can register on Saturday, February 11th from 3-5 PM at Ralph’s Sporting Goods on Route 50 in Ballston Spa. You may also register by mail.
